Bedside Beauty

There is no better feeling than jumping into bed at the end of a long day and completing a simple skin care routine. Because I’m a little lazy when it comes to looking after my skin (an awful habit to have, I know) I have turned to keeping some essentials at my bedside. This way, I make a conscious effort to use them every night before getting my head down and it really does work!

Lily Flame Fairy Dust Scented Candle

Most of these are beauty items but I have also included a favourite candle of mine. The Lily Flame Fairy Dust Scented Candle is my go to at the moment. It’s slightly sweeter than the warming winter scents I had been using over the Christmas period and is a gentle introduction to Spring. If you’ve read my recent blog post on my goals for the year, you will know I am slowly getting back into reading. Lighting this candle before getting into bed and reading a few chapters of my current book is a lovely addition to my evening routine.  If you haven’t yet read that post, you can find it here.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

So, first things first. This Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water has been a firm favourite of mine for years now. It’s so easy to use, gentle on my skin and will remove even the most waterproof mascaras. In my books, that alone makes it a winner. I just use a bit of this on a few cotton pads and wipe away all the makeup left on my face from the day. Easy!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+

I also keep the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+ by my bed as this does absolute wonders for my problematic skin. This, used alongside the same branded gel cleanser (not kept by my bedside) works a treat for helping me achieve a clearer complexion. If you struggle with acne and/or scarring I would really recommend taking a look at this range. The toning water is fab too!

nspa Night Repair Cream

The night cream kept on the side at the moment is the nspa Night Repair Cream. This is extremely hydrating and works through the night on creating a clearer complexion. For just £7 a pot (currently on sale for £5) it just goes to prove that good skincare doesn’t have to be expensive.

No7 Protect & Perfect Eye Cream

Another cream I swear by and a great one to keep by the bed is the No7 Protect & Perfect Eye Cream. I apply this morning and night and it works wonders for dark under eye circles. It’s light on the skin and has anti-ageing properties to help with deep lines and wrinkles too.

A staple item! I can’t tell you how many of these Vaseline pots I most likely have – around the house, on my desk, in my car, in numerous handbags… the list goes on. Around this time of year my lips are always chapped and sore, so using this before going to bed locks in moisture over night. A must have item for me at the moment.

Umberto Giannini Hair Mask

And lastly, a product kept at my bedside but not needed every night – an Umberto Giannini Hair Mask. When my hair needs an extra bit of TLC, I run a small amount of this mask through my hair and leave it in over night. This helps to soften my hair and give it that extra bit of hydration it sometimes needs. I’ve had a look for the link for this and the product seems to have changed slightly since I first purchased it. This Umberto Giannini Nourishing Hair Mask is very similar but is for in-shower use – just leave it on for 3 minutes then rinse off!

I have definitely found that keeping these few items by my bedside has helped me get back into a routine with skincare. Do you perform part of your routine in bed too? What are your favourite beauty products of a night time? I’d love to know what you regularly use.
